Artist's Comments

There were a number of pathways covered with these things. They were close enough to each other that Ash and I didn't get soaked with rain. It was really spectacular... they went all the way up the mountain. Must have been hundreds of torii... maybe even more than a thousand.

Wow. Thats pretty cool. What mountain?

A woman is alot like a monument. From far away they both stand tall, proud, unblemished and perfect to behold. But nothing created by man can supersede him in perfection. I have found my monument. I have seen it's flaws. And I admire it anyway. ~Setesh

Erm... not sure. The temple was called Shitennoji. We walked on the temple grounds, and then you just start walking up the mountain and the torii show up.

I think we were still in the Osaka area.

it's so beautiful  I think this (or this type of thing?) was what the "Gates" artwork in central park (NYC) was based off of...don't know if you heard of that, but it was all these saffron 'gates' like those torii with fabric hanging from the top going along the paths in the park. I was there in february when everything was covered in snow, and it was just gorgeous seeing the saffron arches among the grey city

Ahh! This is where a memorable scene from Memoirs of a Geisha was shot. Did you visit the shrine? Or is there no shrine there?

don't just live, make sure people know about it so you don't have to worry about being forgotten later.
